I am a big believer that being comfortable doesn’t have to mean wearing yoga pants every day, which can be tempting for someone who works from home like me. Which is why I love outfits that have the appearance of being polished but, are also relaxed. There’s nothing restrictive about this look and thanks to the bright tank + blazer combination, it looks sophisticated even though it feels loose and easy. I am loving the geo print on them. These bright silky pants are great for dressing up with heels or wearing with flats…and the best part is that they comfortable while looking ultra chic. The trick to wearing bold prints and colors together is to complement the look with a basic blazer and accessories such as classic black pumps. This look also makes a fun outfit for the upcoming St. Patrick’s day festivities.
This perfect pair of slouchy trousers is from an amazing local boutique called Comfort Me (what a cute name!)! It is right here in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago and run by a mother & daughters team. And they have these pants in stock currently. I am in love with their unique and on-trend collections. The best part is they curate fashion and decor items from talented artisan designers based locally and around the country. They believe in comfort with style and fashion that makes you feel better. Head on over there soon as they have just the right stuff to cure that ongoing serious case of spring fever, such as these trendy I Madeline printed pants. Alyssa, one of the super friendly owners, would love to show you what more Comfort Me Boutique has in-stored for us for this spring season. Continue reading →
Wearing layers is the secret to surviving the mid-west weather. I usually opt for 3 and then top the look with an over coat. It is always a good idea to start with a soft and thin full-sleeve fitted t-shirt to keep you comfortable througout the day. I love the pairing of simple denim shirt under my sweaters to make the outfit look more put-together. Plus adds that extra layer of toasty comfort. Sweaters is the play area. I like to go for prints and patterns here. It is usually the star of the outfit and will be seen the most throughout the day. As you might know by now, I am huge fan of pops of color with my basic look and bright-colored outerwear does the trick. (More examples here and here) Continue reading →
Happy Monday! Red is a beautiful color and it can get tricky to not overdo it specially for crimson-lovers like me, around this time of the year. As an easy solution – I try to focus towards simple and classic styles in this bold hue to let the color shine. I teamed up with the stylish and talented Fiona from The Upmarket to come up with two different effortless looks that can take you from a date night to a small party to wherever the night takes you this holiday season. A candid look in an eye-catching tint can make for a very versatile outfit. It is the season to make a statement and let this flattering shade help you stand out this month. Who says sparkles are limited for fancy night-time looks?! I love sequins, shiny things and a little bit of bling in my everyday looks. ‘Tis the season to wear sequins.
Ever since these pants caught my eye at Nordstrom, I knew I had to have them. It was not enough to just save them for night outs and parties so I ventured into the daytime armed in my shiny sequin pants. The classic chambray shirt is my secret weapon which balances the sparkle of the look while still keeping it festive. I topped the look with a deep purple peacoat to add a pop of color to my outfit’s neutral tones of denim and gold (Yes gold is a neutral this time of the year).
The best part of holiday season is spending a lot of time with family. My family is scattered all over the world. That means a lot of traveling for me. While flying across the country I like to be dressed warm and comfortable. I always get cold and sleepy on planes. While I love jetting off for a vacation, I can’t say that I like the dozens of red-eye flights and security checks that I deal with when flying somewhere. To ease the pain of traveling, I like to keep my look simple and easy. There are so many things you can do to cut down on potential security screenings and make the act of traveling more comfortable.
Happy Thursday! I have been completely off the grid busy with some much needed family time for the past couple weeks. My parents are visiting all the way from India. (Yay!!) But, I have missed you and I have missed blogging. It’s a beautiful day in the Chicagoland area and today I am talking about a farmer favorite. Overalls may have kicked off in a big way during the spring, but the throwback style is carrying over for the colder months. I am so happy it is here to stay for fall, only now the one-piece styles are longer and ready to be layered with our favorite jackets and knits. Overall, I am obsessed.
Overalls are inherently comfortable, so I embraced the causal feel. When dressing them down, the main goal is to keep them from looking disheveled. It is important to pay attention to the details, like swapping flats for a heeled shoe and making sure to wear a slim-fitting top. These leopard print wedges are a comfortable choice and align with the daytime feel.
A printed peplum top can be the perfect piece for an Office-To-Evening transition. Make a statement both at work and play with this top in way-fun print. Decked in a funky print and a flattering peplum fit there is no limit to the many ways to rock this top.
Happy Monday! Today’s outfit is inspired by all those of you working in a conservative work environment such as teachers. I have the privilege of enjoying a lot of freedom in my work-wear. I try to incorporate new trends and silhouettes whenever I can. My sister-in-law, Riddhi, on the other hand is a fun and fantastic teacher who has to stay in the constraints of school appropriate work-wear. Over the weekend when I met her, I got to thinking what would I wear if I was in her shoes. I decided to try my hands as a stylist to come up with a look which would be trendy and still be limited to certain restrictions such as no short hemlines or uncomfortable high heels or casual jeans. So this post is dedicated to her for challenging me to come up with a work wear that is chic yet comfortable and is compliant with the work-wear standards of schools.
When putting together this look my mind instantly went to an embellished sweatshirt. Managing a classroom full of kids requires high comfort and not many things provide you the ease a soft sweatshirt can offer. Try and opt for a loose fit embellished one for a trendy and modern look.
