This beautiful patterned dress belonged to my mother. In her college days, she used to wear this as a part of ‘salwar suit‘ – a common outfit worn in south east Asia. Last year, I saw a picture of my mom wearing this and I fell in love with the Batik print and the bright color. This print is very prevalent with women in western India. Luckily, my mom remembered which remote corner of her extravagant closet this was hiding at. Turns out it used to be one of her favorites and a gift from her sister (my aunt) so she had kept it for sentimental value. Today with a few current accessories, I have an amazing outfit for myself. This dress makes me feel exceptionally beautiful as it is part of a legacy. There is always something special and happy-feeling about family inheritance.
I excitedly wore this recently at a family dinner party and kept everybody guessing why does it look familiar.

My favorite summer time jeans come in a distressed wash and a slouchy-straight fit. These jeans perfectly complement a feminine and quintessentially summer white embroidered top.

Summer is as much about casual barbecues and beach days as it is about outdoor weddings and parties. Let’s talk about how to style a summery outfit to match your event’s glitz and ritz. The trick is in the accessories. I love this breezy look for a daytime affair.
Keeping the accessories in the same color family brings structure to this light-weight floral dress, making it more suitable for the summer-formal event.
In the summer time, I prefer soft and easy clothes. Although I am the girl who loves her breezy dresses, I enjoy wearing relaxed silk or linen summer pants in a variety of beautiful prints.
The printed pants are perfect for summer. Swap in flat sandals and you can easily take this outfit to a day of walking around at city the arts fair. Or you are ready for dinner with the way I styled it here. Patio seating please! 🙂
You must have noticed my new summer do I have been flaunting lately. It’s weird how hair becomes a part of your identity. Your face stays the same and yet this mound of strands frame, shape and accentuate your features, giving comfort and confidence that, yes, the hair you wear is perfect for you. I love trying out new hairstyles and I have always been comfortable in making changes to my looks, mainly by experimenting on my hair. Not all of them were smart decisions, but they were all fun. Sometimes when you fall in love with something in your closet, you tend to wear it repeatedly. That is what has happened to me. You remember the cute white midi skirt seen here, well it’s become my go-to item for summer days.
