Going to work is the hardest on Mondays. After a relaxing weekend, sometimes it gets tough to roll out of bed when all you want to do is kill the alarm clock and snuggle under the sheets. When you finally do get out of the bed, with barely anytime left to get dolled up, it seems to be one of the toughest tasks to decide what to wear. So here is my attempt to tackle this challenge and help start your Monday fashionably. I prefer my work looks simple and classic. But, trends are not just for off-hours. You can easily sneak in some current trends into your work outfit. To avoid an unhappy call from HR, keep the focus on one trend at a time and the look minimalistic.
This outfit showcases one of the top trends of spring 2013 : Black and White in an office friendly version.
It got warm and sunny today so I took the chance to flaunt one of my favorite sun dress. It’s simple. It’s a classic. It’s a shift. I also call it my traveling dress. You can throw it in your luggage and enjoy it at your destination without having to worry about ironing out the wrinkles. Goes swiftly from daytime sightseeing to a dinner date.
Blush is big this season. I love the versatility of this shade. The soft hue makes a polished work-wear look. This beautiful rose quartz necklace is a fabulous find and is elegant enough to wear to work as well as be a part of your evening look.
Happy Hump Day! In the last few weeks of summer, it is likely to get excited about the new and upcoming fall fashion that is already so prevalent in all the stores. But, when the temperatures are still soaring high it is hard to incorporate fall weather friendly items into your outfit. My solution is to add fall accents. This cotton tee with faux-leather details is soft and breezy enough for a warm afternoon. When paired with a skater skirt in a deep plum color, the outfit will make you look fall ready while keeping you comfortable in the final days of summer.
Pair the look with some neutral accessories and a statement necklace to match the high neckline and ready to conquer your day in style.
I am having a relaxed day. That means spending my day with my boyfriend (jeans). 🙂 Hope you have an easy breezy day today!
When the leaves start to fall and the weather gets chilly, one timeless pattern always makes a stylish appearance: plaid! There’s just something about the checkered prints that feels so right for cooler weather. I am delighted to partake in the trend every year. This sequin-collared classic button down shirt is a fresh way to wear this timeless look. Continue reading →
I often offset my boyfriend jeans with a feminine or tight-fitting top, but today I was feeling relaxed. One tip when wearing loose clothing: keep up your posture as there can only be so much slouch in an outfit. Also, a pair of heels don’t hurt, either. Continue reading →
Happy Thursday! I have been completely off the grid busy with some much needed family time for the past couple weeks. My parents are visiting all the way from India. (Yay!!) But, I have missed you and I have missed blogging. It’s a beautiful day in the Chicagoland area and today I am talking about a farmer favorite. Overalls may have kicked off in a big way during the spring, but the throwback style is carrying over for the colder months. I am so happy it is here to stay for fall, only now the one-piece styles are longer and ready to be layered with our favorite jackets and knits. Overall, I am obsessed.
Overalls are inherently comfortable, so I embraced the causal feel. When dressing them down, the main goal is to keep them from looking disheveled. It is important to pay attention to the details, like swapping flats for a heeled shoe and making sure to wear a slim-fitting top. These leopard print wedges are a comfortable choice and align with the daytime feel.
The temperatures are dropping which means it is boots season. A flat boot is versatile and chic. A girl’s got to have something to dance and jump around in the beautiful fallen leaves. I am very excited for this time of the year as the weather gets cooler and our closets welcome the fall jackets and boots.
Structured jackets are hot this season. The trick is to pay attention to details such as the stand-up contrast collar and the button detail on this jacket. Designers everywhere are all about fitted silhouettes that modernize old-school fabrics and styles such as tweed and military. Continue reading →
