Happy Hump Day! In the last few weeks of summer, it is likely to get excited about the new and upcoming fall fashion that is already so prevalent in all the stores. But, when the temperatures are still soaring high it is hard to incorporate fall weather friendly items into your outfit. My solution is to add fall accents. This cotton tee with faux-leather details is soft and breezy enough for a warm afternoon. When paired with a skater skirt in a deep plum color, the outfit will make you look fall ready while keeping you comfortable in the final days of summer.
Pair the look with some neutral accessories and a statement necklace to match the high neckline and ready to conquer your day in style.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. A printed jersey dress is perfect for the family holiday this fall season. I anticipate it to be comfortable and cute when my mom insists I have an extra slice of that awesome pie. Here I am styling two looks that can work for a casual get together or a dressy dinner party. These looks can easily be worn day to night. I am excited to sport the casual look with the flared converted-skirt in the day. It will be a fun time watching the Thanksgiving parade with the family. And then quickly dress it up for the holiday dinner party in the evening. I hope these looks put a spring in your step in this chilly weather and get you excited for the holiday indulgence coming up next week.
Ever since I set eyes on this beautiful gold watch from Timex, I knew it will be my go-to ‘it’ accessory this holiday season. This watch adds just the right amount of bling to any outfit. I love the rich gold color and the attention to detail in the design. I was surprised to discover that it is not very heavy and sits comfortably on my wrist.
Fall is upon us, and as the weather changes, so does the fashion. Boots, coats, wooly scarves – this is what gets me excited for fall! I can’t help but immediately associate the cooler weather with a warmer wardrobe, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
‘Tis the season to flaunt your dresses. One of my favorite trends for fall season is a soft and cute sweater dress. This dress acts as a great foundation piece for a layered look in colder climates. It is a classic piece especially in a solid color and can be dressed up and down with a few changes in accessories.
Happy October! This month wear a little pink in your week to show your support for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and brighten up a fall day. The weather here in Chicago area is still summer-like in October so I am still enjoying some of my bright colored blouses that are commonly seen in warmer weather. But, I am also a huge fan of wearing color in the colder months. It’s always nice to brighten up. This silk blouse is one of my favorites and I tend to wear it in all seasons (Check out these summer and winter looks). The fact that pink is trending for fall at the moment could not make me any happier. I am currently also coveting a fab pink coat like this Zara one. Continue reading →
Date nights are usually pretty casual for my husband and me, but since the nights have become warmer, I have been reaching for my heels. It’s a funny little thing, how a pair of shoes can instantly lift your mood (and height!). We ventured out for some Greek food the other night, and topped it off with delicious orange italian ice for dessert. I am so grateful for warm, summer evenings, they are quite possibly one of my favorite things. Continue reading →
It seems like the summery days are here to stay and it’s only going to get warmer. A cute cotton skirt is a must for the balmy breezy weather. The flared kinds are my favorite. This casual cotton midi skirt made a cute summer friendly outfit for my day out with the family. I paired it with a dark colored tank to balance the volume.
Women everywhere are still celebrating the return of the retro, uber stylish and elegant Midi length for skirts and dresses. This huge come-back for our hemlines makes a flattering summer outfit. Thank-you Mad Men! Go ahead and invest in one and join the fun.
The best part of holiday season is spending a lot of time with family. My family is scattered all over the world. That means a lot of traveling for me. While flying across the country I like to be dressed warm and comfortable. I always get cold and sleepy on planes. While I love jetting off for a vacation, I can’t say that I like the dozens of red-eye flights and security checks that I deal with when flying somewhere. To ease the pain of traveling, I like to keep my look simple and easy. There are so many things you can do to cut down on potential security screenings and make the act of traveling more comfortable.
Happy Monday! Today’s outfit is inspired by all those of you working in a conservative work environment such as teachers. I have the privilege of enjoying a lot of freedom in my work-wear. I try to incorporate new trends and silhouettes whenever I can. My sister-in-law, Riddhi, on the other hand is a fun and fantastic teacher who has to stay in the constraints of school appropriate work-wear. Over the weekend when I met her, I got to thinking what would I wear if I was in her shoes. I decided to try my hands as a stylist to come up with a look which would be trendy and still be limited to certain restrictions such as no short hemlines or uncomfortable high heels or casual jeans. So this post is dedicated to her for challenging me to come up with a work wear that is chic yet comfortable and is compliant with the work-wear standards of schools.
When putting together this look my mind instantly went to an embellished sweatshirt. Managing a classroom full of kids requires high comfort and not many things provide you the ease a soft sweatshirt can offer. Try and opt for a loose fit embellished one for a trendy and modern look.
Fall is a beautiful season. There is something almost poetic about the falling leaves and the crisp air along with that perfect slice of pumpkin pie in your hand. Yum! I could say it is my favorite season, but then I would be lying. I love them all. There is just something special about them all. My favorite part is noticing the different colors, all these seasons offer. And the seasonal festivities they all bring along. This week my husband and I made an impromptu trip to a local pumpkin patch and bought us some bright pumpkins (couldn’t wait till the coming saturday :)). I am super excited to dive into all the fall-fun this weekend. As you might already know, I have what some might call a deep love fair with ‘red’ (casual red, dressy red, red skirt and red pants) :). I am always finding excuses to wear this darling red dress. It is one of those items in my closet that act as an instant pick-me-up. Know what I mean? You might have a few favorites of your own. The ones you never have to think twice before putting them on. But, with the dropping temperatures, the flowy chiffon dress needed a little something extra. So I decided to work some Samosa POP magic and wear it with a pretty lace sweatshirt and VIOLA my summer dress turned into a fall skirt. 🙂 As simple as that. Go on try it for yourself and create a fun and flirty fall look, perfect for those seasonal dates.
