Going to work is the hardest on Mondays. After a relaxing weekend, sometimes it gets tough to roll out of bed when all you want to do is kill the alarm clock and snuggle under the sheets. When you finally do get out of the bed, with barely anytime left to get dolled up, it seems to be one of the toughest tasks to decide what to wear. So here is my attempt to tackle this challenge and help start your Monday fashionably. I prefer my work looks simple and classic. But, trends are not just for off-hours. You can easily sneak in some current trends into your work outfit. To avoid an unhappy call from HR, keep the focus on one trend at a time and the look minimalistic.
This outfit showcases one of the top trends of spring 2013 : Black and White in an office friendly version.
Fall is upon us, and as the weather changes, so does the fashion. Boots, coats, wooly scarves – this is what gets me excited for fall! I can’t help but immediately associate the cooler weather with a warmer wardrobe, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
‘Tis the season to flaunt your dresses. One of my favorite trends for fall season is a soft and cute sweater dress. This dress acts as a great foundation piece for a layered look in colder climates. It is a classic piece especially in a solid color and can be dressed up and down with a few changes in accessories.
You have seen my love for prints lately. After talking about prints on skirts (here & here), let’s talk about pants. Printed pants are a very cute invention. They are versatile enough for both business and leisure. For a casual look, I pair mine with a simple tee and I am ready for a day of summer fun. I love printed pants. Pick up a pair with an elaborated print on a neutral color for versatility.

This camo sweater is too cute for words. It’s modern relaxed look gives you an instantly chic outfit. I like to treat camo as a neutral and mix them with trendy colors, boots and statement-making accessories. The key is to not over think the styling. I just let the fun print take over. Here are two of my favorite ways to wear this comfortable sweater. These looks are going to be in heavy rotation this season.
The temperatures are dropping which means it is boots season. A flat boot is versatile and chic. A girl’s got to have something to dance and jump around in the beautiful fallen leaves. I am very excited for this time of the year as the weather gets cooler and our closets welcome the fall jackets and boots.
Structured jackets are hot this season. The trick is to pay attention to details such as the stand-up contrast collar and the button detail on this jacket. Designers everywhere are all about fitted silhouettes that modernize old-school fabrics and styles such as tweed and military. Continue reading →
Happy Monday! Brighten up your week with a pop of color in your outfit. We tend to shy away from bright hues from our work wardrobe usually. Here’s a casual daytime look that can be updated instantly by adding a tailored jacket. Add a cropped jacket in a darker shade to this outfit and create a layered fall look that can even work for a casual office setting.
This dreamy lace peplum top adds romance to otherwise casual ‘skinny jeans and a top’ outfit.
A printed peplum top can be the perfect piece for an Office-To-Evening transition. Make a statement both at work and play with this top in way-fun print. Decked in a funky print and a flattering peplum fit there is no limit to the many ways to rock this top.
Today I chose to focus on leather. I paired a leather skater skirt with a white button down and some neutral accessories. I added the leopard print wedges to the look, after all as the talented Jenna Lyons says ‘As far as I am concerned leopard is a neutral‘.
In my opinion, everyone should have a little leather in their wardrobe for the season – it adds just the right amount of edge to classic pieces such as my simple white shirt and instantly makes any outfit cooler. I love the vegan styles because they are more affordable options and don’t have the overtly tough feel.
