Weekend Ready

Polka dots x Samosa POP Happy Casual Friday! I am concluding the week with this fun and flirty polka dot dress. My husband’s family is visiting so this weekend  we plan to take full advantage of the gorgeous weather and spend most of our time outdoors – going for walks, playing on the beach & some family picnics in the park.  I wore this for an afternoon walk along the canal on our way to lunch on a slightly cool & breezy day. Recently, I have become smitten with thrift store shopping. There’s something exciting about walking into the store, not knowing what hidden treasures you might discover. This fun low-waist dress was a recent find and cost less than $20! Even though it’s a more seasonal piece, I was thrilled to add it to my closet. I fell in love with the darling print. Spring ready

It is always difficult to dress for the unpredictable transitional weather. It had been freezing cold lately, but today has turned out to be a warmer spring-like sunny day. In such confused climatic conditions, I like to stick to the tried and tested ‘classics’. For an everyday casual look, one of my favorite quick-chic-trick is to add a well-tailored blazer to pants and tee combo to make my on-the-go outfit look more put-together. Switching the heavy winter coat for a cozy blazer is a comfortable and stylish way to embrace the seasonal changes.spring ready x sp Today I am having a colorful day. I am excited for the spring’s arrival and am gearing up to welcome the print-obsessed brightly hued season. Lately, I have been crazy about this velvet blazer that I inherited from my mom (gotta love legacy!!!). I wear it pretty often pairing it with everything from lace dresses to casual cords. But, today my favorite part of this outfit is the bright printed scarf. Such striking pieces can uplift any wintery look and make it spring ready. Continue reading

Winter Layers

Winter Layers - Samosa POPWearing layers is the secret to surviving the mid-west weather. I usually opt for 3 and then top the look with an over coat. It is always a good idea to start with a soft and thin full-sleeve fitted t-shirt to keep you comfortable througout the day. I love the pairing of simple denim shirt under my sweaters to make the outfit look more put-together. Plus adds that extra layer of toasty comfort. Sweaters is the play area. I like to go for prints and patterns here. It is usually the star of the outfit and will be seen the most throughout the day. As you might know by now, I am huge fan of pops of color with my basic look and bright-colored outerwear does the trick. (More examples here and here) Continue reading

Yellow Gold

Happy Monday! Brighten up your week with a pop of color in your outfit. We tend to shy away from bright hues from our work wardrobe usually. Here’s a casual daytime look that can be updated instantly by adding a tailored jacket. Add a cropped jacket in a darker shade to this outfit and create a layered fall look that can even work for a casual office setting.
