Cords

I am so excited to match my outfit with the beautiful falling leaves. The bright colors and sunny weather are a perfect recipe for a happy day. I am someone who always gets inspired by nature.

Corduroy pants are a staple for fall. With the thick fabric and the comfortable skinny leg these pants are in heavy rotation in my closet. I am excited to wear them with my favorite trench coat on chillier evenings. Definitely a fall must-have for me!!

Preppy layers

I will be the first to admit that I am a creature of habit – a lot of the pairings I wear day to day (particularly in winter) are just different variations of the same theme.  Button-down shirt + sweater + skirt or pants.  Even though there is nothing ground-breaking about this combination, depending on the pieces I choose, the finished looks can be very diverse (casual or sophisticated). In this look, the bow-tie adds more character to this preppy look, than the usual collar neck. So the next time you are standing in front of your closet and are unsure of what to wear, try your own adaptation of these layered basics…it works every time!

Spring Blue from Dress Lily

Blue dressHappy Wednesday everyone! I hope you are staying cozy warm. I am still trying to get over this cold weather in the Chicago area. Just can’t get myself to love it anymore. I have loved the snow days, enjoyed being a snow angel and drooled over some trendy winter style inspirations. Now I am ready for colorful spring dresses kinda weather. I couldn’t stop myself when I saw this beautiful dress in the striking blue shade from Dress Lily. I wore it this past weekend at a friend’s baby shower and felt a little bit of spring in my step. This fit and flare dress makes a fun outfit for any get-together. I am a fan of the flattering color-block in the black & white. The dress fits true to size and is comfortable whether you are dancing or sneaking that extra slice of cake (shh!) :). The fabric and color turned out to be different than the website picture. The color is brighter and the fabric is lighter than expected. But, it is a playful and affordable spring dress. The only drawback was that it took forever for me to receive it (over a month). Their shipping services can surely use a speed boost. Continue reading

How to rock patterned pants at work

When it comes to work wear I love an outfit that breaks the norms without alerting the HR. This year has been all about the prints and pants are no exception. Personally I can’t get enough of it. I love bold prints, small prints and all prints. I also love a look that can take me from day to night, and pieces that are versatile are budget and closet friendly. This blouse is conservative yet also beautiful in lilac. With a white blazer it looks clean against a pair of tailored printed pants, as well as office appropriate. This statement necklace is not over-bearing which goes perfect with a work-friendly high neckline.

By adding just a few trend pieces such as these patterned pants, to your work wardrobe, you can look summer fabulous and professional without blowing the whole paycheck. After work, I would add a clutch, adding the perfect amount of sparkle for cocktails.

The subtle Geo print on these pants make them perfect for an office setting. Last seen here.
