Shades of blue

Today is all about fall’s ‘it’ hue, blue. This look is inspired for my blog collaboration with the beautiful Madeline from Veloria in Velvet. Madeline and I have, what one might call an intense blue crush. Big fans! We decided to team our creative minds together and celebrate our love for this stand-out color by putting together two everyday looks that are easy and chic. Both these looks are perfect for fall and transition from work to play very easily. With appearances on the runways and streets, the cool, saturated shade is a bold choice whether it’s rocked head-to-toe or added as a pop of color to an outfit.

Blue - 2 ways

I love the pop of blue in Madeline’s look. Be sure to check out Veloria in Velvet for her outfit details and more style inspirations. I am a big fan of her tricks on styling prints and patterns.

My look –

For my look I decided to mix three shades of this on-trend color to make a chic statement.

By now you know my affinity towards tailored jackets and how frequently I wear them to instantly polish any look. (Exhibit A, B & C). Adding a tailored cropped jacket from the same blue family but in a darker shade makes this simple sheath dress fab and creates a chic work wear look. I loved completing the look with a shoe from the navy family to contrast the dress and match the jacket. The polka dots add bonus drama to the outfit.

To take this look from work to play feel free to lose the jacket, tights and sunglasses while adding an extra coat of your bright lipstick (Instant party). If possible, I would also switch the bag to a party clutch.
