September skirt

Ever met a piece of clothing that is perfect for right now!? If I had to pick an item out of my closet to symbolize September – with it’s beauty and it’s late-summer weather, it would be this midi skirt.

Talk about love at first twirl!!! The soft baby blue color paired with a peak-a-boo panel is a skirt dream come true. I am head over heels in love with the midi trend (exhibit A and exhibit B). This lady-like trendy skirt is easily going to be my most frequented transition piece with the current changing seasons. Anytime I can find a piece of clothing that is as comfortable as it is stylish, I am immediately sold.

I also love that it’s lightweight enough to wear now and will be perfect with cropped a moto jacket thrown on top when the weather gets a little bit cooler.

When crafting your own ensemble, try to remember this midi mantra: volume on bottom needs to be balanced by a close-fitting top. Since every midi has a rather full skirt, keep it streamlined above the waist with a fitted tee or a form-fitting top (always tucked in!). I agree when the experts say a striped tee is a basic must-have. It is pretty much a neutral which pairs well with a variety of bottoms. My favorite pairing with my striped tee was a floral pencil skirt over the summer, until I came across this beautiful midi skirt from Nordstrom.

Another tip to rock the midi trend is adding a heeled shoe to your look. The midi skirt requires very specific footwear – a non-flat shoe that exposes the top of the foot to lengthen the appearance of your leg. A very thin strappy sandal or a classic pump is most flattering.
