When it comes to the first day at a new job, it’s important to put your best foot (and face!) forward. One of the easiest ways to settle those first-day jitters and make a stellar first impression is to find the perfect work-appropriate look.
Wear your hair in a bun or a braid – Keeping your hair off your face sends the message that you are ready to get down to business.
Opt for comfortable shoes – the ones you can easily move around in.
Go easy on the perfume – keep it simple and light.
Get a fresh manicure – It’ll make you look as powerful and put together as you feel.
Accessorize tastefully – Don’t overdo it
Bonus tip – Stock up on mints – Chewing gum isn’t exactly the picture of professionalism.
Remember less is more. Keep it simple, radiant and refreshing and you will be feeling better than ever.
Here is a non-traditional holiday look. There is something magical and wintery about this color (Think Frozen). The beautiful baby blue color is perfect for this festive season especially when paired with a darker color like this black sparkly sweater. Stand out at your next holiday party in the array of red dresses with this modern combination. Continue reading →
Are you ready for this holiday season? Dressing for Thanksgiving can be tricky. It is important to dress in an outfit that is cute and comfortable enough to enjoy that extra slice of pie. Even if your family has a casual style, it’s a holiday and you still want to look a little nicer than normal. In light of the goblets of wine and heaping plates of turkey to be enjoyed, here is an outfit idea not too casual, not too fussy, and just right for Turkey Day. Check back for more holiday style inspiration this week. #HolidayFashion Red is the perfect color for the holidays. It gives this comfortable jersey dress, a festive flair. Pair this cozy dress with a matching coat for a chic & relaxed outfit which is way more cheerful than just a jeans and a sweater. You are all set to take on the big (long) family dinner. I opted for a simpler look here, but a monochrome canvas, also gives a chance to wear your favorite jewels. See my previous year’s Thanksgiving style here (more red dresses). Continue reading →
Are you traveling for Thanksgiving? Your slouchy trench coat is a wardrobe classic to begin with. It’ll also keep you warm and help you stay polished, no matter where you are headed. Throw one over a simple tee/ a cozy sweater, and opt for flat boots in order to get around easily.See my last year’s travel style with some cool travel tips here.
Mixing prints and textures is a versatile trick that creates an updated look for every season. This fall & winter season, layer up delicate fabrics like lace with a faux-leather blazer for a weather friendly and chic outfit. Mixing different textures makes a unified layered look which pulls the whole outfit together. Continue reading →
It is Monday and time for a work wear showcase on Samosa POP. Today’s office wear is more new and liberal. Remember you can always have fun adding the latest trends to your work outfit – just keep the color palette uniform.
Going to work is the hardest on Mondays. After a relaxing weekend, sometimes it gets tough to roll out of bed when all you want to do is kill the alarm clock and snuggle under the sheets. When you finally do get out of the bed, with barely anytime left to get dolled up, it seems to be one of the toughest tasks to decide what to wear. So here is my attempt to tackle this challenge and help start your Monday fashionably. I prefer my work looks simple and classic. But, trends are not just for off-hours. You can easily sneak in some current trends into your work outfit. To avoid an unhappy call from HR, keep the focus on one trend at a time and the look minimalistic.
This outfit showcases one of the top trends of spring 2013 : Black and White in an office friendly version.
